What is nicotinamide riboside? The NAD⁺ precursor from the vitamin B3 family
- Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a form of vitamin B3 (niacin) from the class of pyridine nucleosides; in food supplements it is used as the stable salt nicotinamide riboside chloride (NRC).
- In the body, nicotinamide riboside serves as a precursor of NAD⁺ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), a coenzyme involved in numerous metabolic reactions in the cell.
- Nicotinamide riboside was originally described as a nutrient in milk and has been authorised in the EU as a novel food for food supplements since 2020 (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/16).
NAD⁺ precursor with 300 mg NRC - study-based and EU-compliant dosage
- Green Naturals NRC contains 300 mg nicotinamide riboside chloride per daily dose - the highest amount the EU permits for adults - compared to many manufacturers who dose significantly lower or disregard novel food limits.
- The daily dose is clearly declared: 300 mg NRC with 126 mg niacin equivalent - compared to many "NAD⁺ boosters" that hide active ingredient amounts in blends.
- Exactly this amount of 300 mg per day was investigated in a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled 8-week study with 140 adults (Conze et al., 2019); the oral bioavailability of nicotinamide riboside in humans had previously been shown (Trammell et al., 2016).
With niacin (vitamin B3) - proven benefit according to EFSA
- Niacin contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal psychological function and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue (authorised EFSA claims).
- Each capsule provides 126 mg niacin equivalent (NE) - corresponding to 787.5% of the nutrient reference value (NRV).
- 90 vegan capsules last 90 days at 1 capsule daily - 3 months' supply in one jar.
-
Optimal time of intake
Take 1 capsule daily with sufficient liquid during a meal, ideally in the morning or at lunchtime. What matters is regular daily intake.
-
Dosage and duration of use
Daily dose: 1 capsule (= 300 mg nicotinamide riboside chloride with 126 mg niacin, 787.5% NRV). Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. 90 capsules last 90 days. For adults only; not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Remarks
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a preventive system for ensuring food safety that identifies and assesses potential hazards in production and minimizes them through targeted control measures. The seal refers to the manufacturing process.
- This is how the grade is calculated: Grade calculation based on star ratings: 5.00 - 4.50 Very good, 4.49 - 3.50 Good, 3.49 - 2.50 Satisfactory, 2.49 - 1.50 Sufficient, 1.49 - 1.00 Poor. For the verification of ratings, no authenticity check of customer reviews is carried out. The ratings are combined from different sources, such as mail-order pharmacies and online marketplaces.
