Inositol ist ein sechswertiger Zuckeralkohol. Früher wurde es als Vitamin B8 bezeichnet - eine überholte Einordnung, da der Körper Inositol aus Glucose selbst herstellen kann. Inositolphosphate dienen als Bausteine von Signalmolekülen.

Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Myo- und D-Chiro-Inositol?

Es sind zwei von neun möglichen Stereoisomeren, also räumlichen Anordnungen desselben Moleküls. Myo-Inositol ist die häufigste Form. Beide erfüllen unterschiedliche Funktionen und liegen im Körper gewebeabhängig in verschiedenen Verhältnissen vor.

In welchem Verhältnis liegen die Isomere vor?

Unsere Tagesdosis enthält 2.025 mg Myo-Inositol und 225 mg D-Chiro-Inositol, also ein Verhältnis von 9:1. Beide sind getrennt deklariert.

Ist Inositol ein Vitamin?

Nein. Die frühere Bezeichnung Vitamin B8 ist überholt, weil der Körper Inositol selbst aus Glucose herstellen kann. Ein Vitamin ist definitionsgemäß essenziell und nicht selbst herstellbar.

Wann sollte man Inositol einnehmen?

Die empfohlene Tagesdosis beträgt 3 Kapseln zu einer Mahlzeit, sinnvollerweise über den Tag verteilt.

Gibt es zugelassene Health Claims für Inositol?
