What is chitosan?
- Chitosan, also known as polyglucosamine, is a naturally occurring polysaccharide derived from chitin. Our plant-based chitosan comes from the mushroom (Agaricus Bisporus), making it a vegan alternative to conventional chitosan from crustaceans.
- The special molecular structure of chitosan makes it one of the most frequently studied dietary fibers in modern nutritional science. As a positively charged biopolymer, its chemical properties allow it to interact with negatively charged molecules such as fatty acids and bile salts1.
- As an indigestible fiber, chitosan passes through the digestive tract largely unchanged and is naturally excreted.
Mode of action in the digestive tract
- The effect of chitosan is based on its physicochemical properties: Chitosan carries positive charges, while fatty acids and bile salts are negatively charged. This electrostatic attraction leads to binding in the digestive tract2.
- In the stomach, chitosan swells in contact with stomach acid, forming a gel. In the small intestine, its binding capacity for dietary fats increases. This mechanism has been documented in numerous studies.
- The quality of chitosan is largely determined by its degree of deacetylation: the higher this value, the more pronounced its binding ability. Our premium chitosan is carefully tested for an optimal degree of deacetylation.
Premium Quality & Application Notes
- Each capsule provides 600 mg of high-quality plant-based chitosan - ideal for a clearly defined daily dosage of 5 capsules (3,000 mg). It is typically taken before main meals with sufficient liquid.
- Pure vegan formula without unnecessary additives, gluten-free and well-tolerated. 120 capsules for 24 days of conscious nutrition - carefully bottled and laboratory-tested in Germany. Each batch is tested for purity, heavy metals, and microbiological quality.
- As with all dietary fibers, chitosan can affect the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K).

Remarks
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a preventive system for ensuring food safety that identifies and assesses potential hazards in production and minimizes them through targeted control measures. The seal refers to the manufacturing process.
- This is how the grade is calculated: Grade calculation based on star ratings: 5.00 - 4.50 Very good, 4.49 - 3.50 Good, 3.49 - 2.50 Satisfactory, 2.49 - 1.50 Sufficient, 1.49 - 1.00 Poor. For the verification of ratings, no authenticity check of customer reviews is carried out. The ratings are combined from different sources, such as mail-order pharmacies and online marketplaces.
