Vitamin D3 and K2 - two fat-soluble vitamins as a duo
- Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) belongs to the group of fat-soluble secosteroids. The body can produce it in the skin under UVB radiation - however, in Central Europe the sunlight from October to March is often not sufficient for this.
- Vitamin K2 comprises the menaquinones (MK-4 to MK-13). Menaquinone-7 (MK-7), with seven isoprene units in its side chain, is the form most commonly used in food supplements - in nature it occurs mainly in the fermented soy product natto.
- Both vitamins are fat-soluble. In Green Naturals Vitamin D3 + K2 they are therefore dissolved in MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides from coconut) - a drop format that allows precise dosing.
K2VITAL® - vitamin K2 MK-7 with min. 99.7 % all-trans
- Green Naturals Vitamin D3 K2 drops contain the branded ingredient K2VITAL® with a min. 99.7 % all-trans content - in contrast to many manufacturers who declare vitamin K2 without stating its form or isomeric purity.
- Only the all-trans form of MK-7 corresponds to the natural molecular structure; cis isomers are considered to be significantly less biologically active. This is why "min. 99.7 % all-trans" is stated directly in the ingredients list.
- The synthetically produced MK-7 in K2VITAL® was investigated for bioavailability in a randomised cross-over study in comparison with fermentation-derived MK-7 (Møller et al., 2016); the uptake of MK-7 compared with MK-4 was also investigated in healthy women (Sato et al., 2012).
Vitamin D3 + K2 with vitamin E - proven benefits
- Vitamin D and vitamin K contribute to the maintenance of normal bones. Vitamin D also contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to the maintenance of normal muscle function and to normal blood calcium levels (authorised EFSA claims).
- One drop provides 1000 IU (25 µg) vitamin D3 (500 % NRV), 30 µg vitamin K2 (40 % NRV) and 1.8 mg vitamin E (15 % NRV) - vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
- 30 ml contain approx. 1020 drops - at 1 drop daily, one bottle lasts around 1020 days, i.e. approx. 34 months.
-
Optimal time of intake
Take 1 drop once daily, ideally with a meal - vitamins D and K are fat-soluble. Shake the bottle before each use; regular daily intake is more important than the time of day.
-
Dosage and duration of use
Daily dose: 1 drop (= 1000 IU or 25 µg vitamin D3, 30 µg vitamin K2 as K2VITAL® and 1.8 mg vitamin E). The 30 ml bottle contains approx. 1020 drops and therefore lasts approx. 34 months. For adults only. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and children should ask a doctor or pharmacist before use; anyone taking anticoagulants (blood thinners) should seek medical advice before taking vitamin K supplements.

Remarks
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a preventive system for ensuring food safety that identifies and assesses potential hazards in production and minimizes them through targeted control measures. The seal refers to the manufacturing process.
- This is how the grade is calculated: Grade calculation based on star ratings: 5.00 - 4.50 Very good, 4.49 - 3.50 Good, 3.49 - 2.50 Satisfactory, 2.49 - 1.50 Sufficient, 1.49 - 1.00 Poor. For the verification of ratings, no authenticity check of customer reviews is carried out. The ratings are combined from different sources, such as mail-order pharmacies and online marketplaces.
