Uridine monophosphate (UMP) - what is it?
- Uridine monophosphate (UMP, uridine-5'-monophosphate) is a nucleotide made of three building blocks: the pyrimidine base uracil, the sugar ribose and a phosphate group. It is one of the four basic building blocks of ribonucleic acid (RNA) and occurs in every cell of the body.
- The body produces UMP itself in pyrimidine metabolism and also takes in nucleotides through food - for example via RNA-rich foods such as yeast and organ meats. Breast milk also contains nucleotides; UMP is therefore an approved ingredient in infant formula.
- UMP is the parent compound of all pyrimidine nucleotides: it is converted into uridine triphosphate (UTP) and cytidine triphosphate (CTP) - CTP in turn is a precursor of phosphatidylcholine, a main component of cell membranes (Kennedy pathway).
Pure UMP from fermentation - 500 mg without carriers
- Green Naturals uridine monophosphate capsules contain 500 mg of pure UMP per daily dose - compared to many manufacturers who use UMP only as one of many ingredients in blended formulas.
- The formula consists of exactly two ingredients: uridine monophosphate and the plant-based capsule shell made of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose - compared to many suppliers who add anti-caking agents, fillers or flow agents.
- Uridine and UMP are well researched: orally administered UMP has been studied in an animal model with regard to the formation of CDP-choline in the brain (Cansev et al., 2005), and in healthy adults the administration of 2 g uridine over 7 days was studied using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (Agarwal et al., 2010).
Transparently classified and lab-tested
- There are currently no authorised health claims under EFSA for uridine monophosphate. We therefore deliberately avoid efficacy promises and provide factual information about origin, amount and quality.
- Every batch is filled in Germany and tested for purity and contaminants by independent laboratories - compared to many suppliers who do not disclose any testing of their raw materials.
- 90 vegan capsules last 90 days at 1 capsule daily - a convenient 3-month supply with 500 mg UMP per day.
-
Optimal time of intake
Take 1 capsule daily with sufficient liquid with a meal. You can choose the time of day freely - what matters is regular daily intake.
-
Dosage and duration of use
Daily dose: 1 capsule (= 500 mg uridine monophosphate). We recommend continuous intake for at least 8 weeks; the pack of 90 capsules lasts 90 days. For adults only. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and children should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Remarks
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a preventive system for ensuring food safety that identifies and assesses potential hazards in production and minimizes them through targeted control measures. The seal refers to the manufacturing process.
- This is how the grade is calculated: Grade calculation based on star ratings: 5.00 - 4.50 Very good, 4.49 - 3.50 Good, 3.49 - 2.50 Satisfactory, 2.49 - 1.50 Sufficient, 1.49 - 1.00 Poor. For the verification of ratings, no authenticity check of customer reviews is carried out. The ratings are combined from different sources, such as mail-order pharmacies and online marketplaces.
